The Peter Donegan Band @ Newcastle City Hall The Jam House, Edinburgh, 9th April 2008 (Graeme Scott - Americana UK Magazine)

'The family name is the same, the cheeky grin and on-stage banter similar, plus a set list comprising his father's famous songs but there the comparison has to stop. This was not a tribute act.

Lonnie's son has taken the songs dusted them off and given them a 2008 makeover. For those wanting new versions of familiar songs which, in every sense of the word, formed the foundation of all that is good in British music today then they need look no further. This has been achieved by selecting choice cuts from the likes of The Weavers, Huddie Ledbetter, Woodie Guthrie alongside traditional songs discovered by the Lomax brothers and singing them with the same passion and respect that infused every concert by Lonnie.

These songs are a blend of pure folk, blues, country and lashings of foot stomping rock and roll, which leave you feeling great. As with the Springsteen's Seeger Sessions, it is good to take a look back at where we've come from and remember a time when everybody could make music with the simplest of instruments.

I will not insult your musical knowledge by doing a set list with material that was a very worthy homage to skiffle and it's rightful place in British musical history. Instead I will say simply that I truly had a great time at this gig. Peter carries the legacy that is Lonnie Donegan with pride and honour.'

Live at the Elephant CD

The Dorset Echo (Marco Rossi - 14/12/06)

'Live At The Elephant by The Peter Donegan Band captures, yes, Lonnie's son and his cohorts tearing apart a Gateshead pub with a set consisting of songs forever associated with the sadly-missed skiffle guru (Rock Island Line, Bring A Little Water Sylvie, Puttin' On The Style, Lost John).

Peter and his band perform with immense spirit and an obvious love for Lonnie and his music, and vocally Peter is a dead ringer for his old man.

Lonnie's fans, much like me, will be lustily singing along and wiping away tears.'

Blues Matters magazine (Graeme Scott)

'Released a week on Monday, November 20th this debut from Lonnie's son delivers on all levels. For those wanting some new versions of familiar songs which, in every sense of the word, formed the foundation of all that is good in British rock music today then they need look no further.

More importantly though Peter, supported by his brother David and the rest of the band, has managed to create a perfect companion CD to sit alongside Springsteen's recent Seeger Sessions outing.

This has been achieved by selecting choice cuts from the likes of The Weavers, Huddie Ledbetter, Woodie Guthrie alongside traditional songs discovered by the Lomax brothers and singing them with the same passion and respect that infused every concert by Lonnie.

These songs are a blend of pure folk, blues, country and lashings of foot stomping rock and roll which leave you feeling great and with a big smile on your face, just because you listened and had a good time doing so.

As with the Seeger Sessions it is good to take a look back at where we've come from and remember a time when everybody could make music with the simplest of instruments.

Crammed full with twenty-four tracks, which normally is too many and I do not like to see, this is a wonderful exception to that rule. Thankfully we are spared Dustman and Chewing Gum and left with material which is a very worthy homage to skiffle and it's rightful place in British musical history.

Peter carries the legacy that is Lonnie Donegan with pride and honour. Buy this CD and simply enjoy the experience. It rocks!'
